Base Chakra (1^st chakra)

Function:

The base or root chakra connects us to the physical world.

grounding and stabilizing. Imbalanced base chakra can lead to a loss of interest in the real world, restlessness, lack of energy, a lack of interest in physical survival (food, money, life), emotional volatility, obsession with one thing. Self-nurturing is maintained by the base chakra.

Sacral Chakra (2^nd chakra)

1-2” below the navel

Function:

Creativity in all forms. Reproduction (conception and childbirth), ability to imagine and create. Blockages in the sacral chakra can lead to reproductive problems, problems with sexuality (frigidity or an addiction to sex), bladder and kidney ailments. The sacral chakra also controls our attitude towards change and movement (physical and emotional).

Solar Plexus Chakra (3^rd chakra)

Upper abdomen, below the sternum

Function:

This is the last chakra associate with the physical body. This is where emotions are registered and stored. Controls will, motivation, drive. Awareness of power or lack of power. The 3^rd chakra controls response to power dynamics in interpersonal relationships. The organizing brain of the nervous system. Buildup of difficult emotions that are stored in the 3^rd chakra can lead to physical problems in the stomach, liver, gallbladder.

Heart Chakra (4^th chakra)

Center of the chest, to the right of the physical heart

Ability for pure, compassionate love. The chakra of unconditional love and universal love. Blockages of the heart chakra can lead to lack of self-discipline, difficulty with relationships, respiratory difficulties, asthma, emphysema, poor circulation, cardiac irregularities.

Brow Chakra (6^th chakra)

Space between the eyes, the third eye

Function:

Vision in all forms- physical, intuitive, psychic, creative. Sense of hearing and perception. Connection with spirit guides, the divine, the spiritual life. Blocked brow chakra can lead to an inability to connect with intuition and inner guidance, poor eyesight, eye strain, headaches, migraines.
